PINA PINA PINEAPPLE

It's certainly a truth that you feel crazily inspired when you least expect it as here I am shooting in my apartment living room, swinging my hair back and forth with a pineapple- real not faux- as a prop. The inspiration behind the impromptu shoot was the pineapple itself. I caught a glimpse of it lying around the apartment and realised how much aesthetic pleasure it gave to a simple stack of magazines, and found it interesting how something as generic and 'ordinary' as a fruit can be wildly beautiful. The movement wasn't actually intended until I decided to dance around, and the camera- naturally- caught a snap of my hair slightly raised into the air... And that's when the idea came to me. And as you know, I am The Average Fruit.

Before criticism, the photographs are deliberately off focus in places as I like the idea of you being able to see the movement I am making. The still shots are of different vibrancy as the shutter speed was faster than it was when I shot the moving frames, so more light from the wall light/pink tinsel combination was consumed by the camera.

RECALLING '70S HEDONISM

A shoot inspired by the hedonistic Woodstock & The Summer of Love | featuring me & styled and photographed by my talented friend Evangelina @ www.purplehazemag.com

I, too, am planning to style and photograph a shoot following this direction to imitate the psychedelia that is referenced through the '70s trend in Men's SS15 collections.
STAY TUNED.

PINK is the word

Given I'm titled Jessie PINK, I'm actually guilty of shunning the colour in my wardrobe. Pink is a colour of romance, tenderness and femininity- allegedly- but I feel, above all, that it's a colour of modern innocence and purity.

SECRET GARDEN PARTY FESTIVAL WONDERLAND

Well I've just arrived back at home after what I can only describe as the best four days of my ENTIRE life. Generally speaking, most feel happiest when they're jamming to their favourite bands but this festival added a whole new spin on your generic, musical camping experience. Without advocating a cliché or stereotype, the folk there- the ones I met- were persistently happier than you could possibly imagine, and had a deep love for hearing the stories of others. These people are forever my kind of people, and having so many of them in one over-flowing capacity brought out the most euphoric side of myself.

I'm feeling very inspired to write at the minute but with this particular topic, well, there are no words that can do it even a quarter of the justice it deserves.

Below is a photograph of the sunflower field that you were lead to when entering your average- or so you thought- portaloo...

I was extremely lucky to not only discover new music, but to actually meet the masterminds behind the music and hang with them. Please check out my friend's band 'The Dirty Gentlemen'- you won't be disappointed.

CURLS, GIRLS?

CURLY HAIR PROBLEM #1 Your hair grows in width before it grows in length
CURLY HAIR PROBLEM #2 When people think you can just wash your hair and go...?
CURLY HAIR PROBLEM #3 Feeling like you belong in a different decade

With my holiday coming up, I'm feeling that annual fret about 'taming the frizz' abroad. I've always seen my head of spiralling curls as a somewhat curse, and it's only until recently I've developed a little soft spot for it. I've noticed that a vast majority of people I idolise have curly hair themselves-admittedly styled- so I thought "why am I hiding my own?"
Curls are absolutely a test of one's patience, but they're also (allegedly) a sign of beauty.

So here you go guys, here's my hair in full natural swing...

MONDAY FUNDAY

As Mondays generally have an outrageously dull reputation, I like to dress everything BUT dull. Today was another Monday filled with errands on top of errands, and a night shift in the evening- which I will soon be attending to- to round it off. Annoyingly, the weather has been indecisive today with a fierce rainstorm followed by a beautiful, sunny afternoon. Here are some photographs of what I wore today on my travels to the Post Office, Laundrette and coffee shop.
